Nature seems to like protecting the content of its PDF files, preventing users from copying text, which is unbelievably annoying.
Open the file in Acrobat, select File>Document Properties>Security, and change the security method to 'No Security'. Press OK and save the PDF. Now you can copy text.
Someone remind me why that was necessary.
