People are getting excited about A9's Yellow Pages photos, but the Pages Jaunes has had comprehensive photo coverage of the streets for years. I used it when I was searching for an apartment, to look at the buildings before travelling all the way over there.
Russell Beattie's post has some more information, and links in the comments as well.
What I do like is the ability to submit your own photos for each location - I've been wanting to take photos of some Parisian shops for a while and add them to an annotated map, but... this really isn't something that should be in a proprietary Amazon database. It could mean some good work for professional photographers though, with business owners wanting to get decent pictures into the search engine.
