TV stations are staffed by silly people and oppressed IT departments.
Website? That's like... TV without the ability to change channels on us, right?
Commercial TV stations don't get it, by and large, but government ones seems to be not so bad (BBC, Australian ABC, etc).
I have this problem with my own radio station - there's no support for ideas from IT people, because IT people aren't seen to be on the same par as marketing folks: the same marketing folks who look at the web only to say "CAN I MAKE ITEM X FLASH ??!!??one one questionmark blank stare".
Probably preaching to the choir, eh? I say we cast off the old media and just make our own :)
They'll either die from crippling market forces, or adapt to us in the long run, right?
If you could tell those marketing people that there was an easy way for thousands of their viewers/listeners to find out about the start of every new series, with very little work or cost on their part, I reckon they'd be interested.
You say government TV stations are better, but even the BBC doesn't have RSS feeds for new series - I made my own for Radio 4's comedy shows, here: http://hublog.hubmed.org/archives/001071.html
