Last.fm has added a great implementation of an events calendar (beta-only, for subscribers, at the moment) that recommends concerts by proximity and music taste. I'll almost certainly be using this rather than upcoming.org for concerts (though I miss the 'watch this' flag for keeping an eye on an event rather than definitely 'attending').
