Play This Gene

This Greasemonkey script← adds a button to the FASTA view of any nucleotide sequence in Entrez (example), which will post the sequence to Gene2Music, generating a MIDI rendition of the data. The algorithms for generating the 'music' are described in a paper published this month in Genome Biology.

I particularly like their justification for this endeavor. *Awesome*.

This also reminds me of that time when somebody thought it was clever using Chaos math to compose a symphony.

I wrote the Gene2Music software. How does one use the above greasemonkey script? Looks like javascript to me, but how does one plug it in?

Frank: you need to install Greasemonkey - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748 (an add-on for Firefox).
