Mezzoblue has an article called "Plugging the RSS Usability Hole" about what to put on the other side of an orange XML button to make it less confusing to unwitting users. There, Dave uses XSLT and CSS to make an explanatory page (doesn't work in Safari), but you can also do it more simply just using CSS. See my RSS feed for an example. If you like, you can also style and present all the items in the RSS feed with just CSS, like this.
