I want to use VST instruments in Linux. Renoise, Jost, Audacity, energyXT2 and other audio editors support VST instruments, but VST instruments compiled for Windows are not compatible with Linux.
In the Windows emulator, use FST or DSSI-VST as a wrapper for Windows VST plugins.
Use modular synthesiser SynthEdit in Windows to create VST instruments.
The real solution:
Open-source VST instruments that can be compiled for any platform. There are already several VST instruments ported to Linux, based on code in the Music-DSP and VST Source Code archives. There isn't an open-source VST instrument creator for Linux, as far as I can tell.
